Pedestrian and bike bridge over Vistula in Warsaw scheduled for completion by April 2024
The pedestrian-cyclist bridge connecting both banks of the Vistula River, near Karowa Street in Powiśle and Okrzei Street in Praga, is scheduled for an official opening in spring 2024, according to Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski. The construction started in 2022, and the mayor expressed hope for the bridge to be accessible as early as March or April 2024. The bridge aims to transform Warsaw's city center, linking boulevards to the Praga district. Trzaskowski envisions the bridge becoming a symbol of Warsaw, catering to pedestrians, cyclists, and providing a recreational space for residents and visitors. The bridge's name is yet to be decided, with the plebiscite-winning name "Agrafka" being seriously considered.
The renovation of Okrzei and Karowa streets is planned, and the bridge will be accessible to cyclists. There are plans for a pedestrian crossing and a bike path across Wisłostrada. The bridge is expected to have connections to Kawęczyńska Street on the Praga side and Krakowskie Przedmieście on the Powiśle and Śródmieście side.
