Show lessDariusz Lubera, head of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, says Poland’s energy sector is operating “without a plan A.” There is no clear strategy for coal assets or updated national policies, leaving companies in uncertainty.

Rising savings aren’t the issue here, but the transition itself. Coal assets are losing value faster than new revenue sources emerge, contributing to financial pressure despite strong operating results.

Lubera warns that without coal and gas, a safe transition is impossible. After 2028, when capacity market support may end, the risk of power shortages or even a blackout becomes real.

He stresses that clear government direction on energy policy and nuclear plans is essential, as current regulatory gaps make long-term investment decisions difficult.
