Polish e-commerce matures abroad
Online sales in Poland grew strongly in October, rising 10% year-on-year and 5.6% month-on-month, according to Base, which tracks 3,000 online stores. The number of transactions increased by 7% annually, with average cart values up 2.8% to PLN 207.50.
Cross-border sales surged 16.7% year-on-year, now accounting for 19.2% of total e-commerce, signaling what Base’s Aleksandra Rząd calls “export maturity.” Domestic sales rose 8.5%, while foreign orders nearly reached one in five transactions.
Seasonal factors—cooler weather, holiday shopping, and an extended weekend—also boosted activity, notes Univio’s Sebastian Błaszkiewicz. He adds that 65% of shoppers now use mobile apps, and 39% buy from foreign sites.
Experts warn, however, that customer loyalty is fading. “Consumers compare, click, and disappear,” says Digitree Group’s Mateusz Jeżyk, stressing that personalization is now standard and future growth depends on cross-border integration and loyalty strategies.
