Import of used cars has slowed with newer imports growing
Poland’s used car market is slowly shifting toward newer vehicles, but the overall condition of the national fleet remains poor compared to Europe. In October 2025, imports of used passenger and light commercial vehicles fell by nearly 9% year-on-year to over 85,000 units, with total imports for the first ten months reaching about 811,000, down 1.3%. The average age of imported cars remains high at 12.4 years, though the share of vehicles under 10 years old is rising. Despite this, Poland still has one of the oldest car fleets in the EU, averaging nearly 15 years, compared to just over 12 in the EU.
Germany remains the main source of imports, and diesels, often heavily used, still make up a large portion of the market.
