Prime Minister: cooperation with US on energy will permanently block Russian gas

Poland is strengthening energy cooperation with the U.S. to permanently block Russian gas imports, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Talks also covered small modular reactors, which will contribute to Poland's energy mix. Tusk emphasized the new momentum in Polish-American relations, highlighted by the signing of a bridge agreement between Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) and the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium.
The agreement ensures continuity of Poland’s nuclear project in Pomerania, which will feature three AP1000 reactors with a combined capacity of 3.75 GW. The investment is estimated at PLN 192 billion, with about PLN 60 billion in state aid. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028, with the first reactor operational by 2036.
