Robotization key to Polish companies' competitiveness

According to a report by the Polish Economic Institute (PIE), 76% of entrepreneurs believe that robotization and automation are increasingly crucial for maintaining the competitiveness of Polish companies. In 2022, Poland ranked 6th in the EU in terms of the number of robots in processing industries and 16th in robot density.
Poland had nearly 18,000 industrial robots, translating to 54 robots per 10,000 employees in the sector, ranking 17th globally. Filip Leśniewicz, a senior analyst at PIE, highlighted factors such as Poland's economic structure and lower labor costs impacting robot density compared to regional peers.
Industries like motor vehicle production, plastics, and pharmaceuticals lead robotization efforts in Poland, although they represent a small share of value added. The report underscores that small, medium-sized enterprises, and larger firms with foreign capital view robotization as critical for competitiveness and potentially for employment stability.
PIE stresses the need for national-level actions to boost robotization, emphasizing education and domestic technology utilization to maximize benefits without compromising employment levels.
