CEIDG received 288,800 applications for sole proprietorship in 2025
In 2025, Poland’s business registry (CEIDG) received 288,800 applications to register sole proprietorships (JDG), almost identical to 2024. At the same time, 196,700 businesses were closed, up from 189,000 a year earlier, while 191,100 firms resumed activity, slightly more than in 2024. Experts say the data points to stabilization in the small business sector, with no major legal or fiscal changes affecting trends.
Sole proprietorships remain the easiest way to start a business and are widely used for B2B services or supplementary income. Analysts note a stable net increase of at least 100,000 businesses annually. Many entrepreneurs treat JDG as a flexible tool, suspending and reactivating activity depending on contracts, seasonality or market demand.
