Change in rules may block development of hotel industry in Poland
Planned amendments to Poland’s Apartment Ownership Act, prepared by the Ministry of Development and Technology, could significantly disrupt the hotel and tourism sector, according to investors and legal experts. The proposal would ban the separation of individual units in hotel buildings, effectively preventing sales of holiday apartments, aparthotels, and condohotels. Critics warn this could halt new investments, threaten projects already under way, raise housing prices, and drive capital abroad.
Arche S.A. CEO Władysław Grochowski argues the changes would harm tourism growth, local communities, and revitalization projects, stressing the need for a long transition period and broad industry consultations to protect jobs, small investors, and Poland’s long-term tourism potential.
