Polish output rebounds
Poland’s industrial sector closed 2025 on a stronger footing. Industrial production rose 7.3% year-on-year in December, beating forecasts from PAP Biznes (2.9% y/y). On a monthly basis, output slipped 0.1%, though analysts had expected a deeper drop. After seasonal adjustments, production was 4.7% higher y/y and 2.1% higher m/m.
Breakdowns show a broad pickup: mining and quarrying grew 8.7% y/y (-1.1% m/m), while manufacturing advanced 7.7% y/y (-0.8% m/m). Electricity, gas and water output declined 2.1% y/y but jumped 9.0% m/m, and water, waste and land reclamation rose 11.3% y/y and 7.9% m/m.
The rebound contrasts with November’s weaker reading (-1.1% y/y and -9.3% m/m). According to GUS, “industrial production sold” measures the value of goods and services sold externally by industrial firms—covering mining, manufacturing, energy, and water-sewage companies—at current prices, excluding VAT and excise duties.
