Police in Poland facing not only common crimes by hybrid warfare
Hybrid warfare has become a real and growing threat to Poland’s security, says Marek Boroń, Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Police. Alongside traditional crime, police now face sabotage, diversion, disinformation, and cybercrime linked to hybrid conflict in Europe. In 2024, Poland dealt with arson and explosive incidents; in 2025, authorities thwarted a diversion attempt that could have caused a deadly rail disaster. According to Boroń, most such acts are connected to eastern intelligence services and Poland’s role as a key logistical hub supporting Ukraine. In response, police structures are being reorganized, cybercrime units strengthened, and counterterrorism capabilities rebuilt.
A new National Police Investigation Bureau will integrate online and offline operations, reflecting how modern organized crime operates across both physical and digital domains.
