In Poland, as many as 69 percent of companies plan to reduce employment as a result of the development of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a survey conducted by the Lewiatan Confederation, an NGO created in January 1999, representing the interests of Polish private entrepreneurs. According to the respondents, launching wage subsidies by the Polish government can significantly reduce the scale of reduction – 70 percent of entrepreneurs have said.
In a separate unrelated report, Personnel Service, a Poland-based recruitment agency, has underscored that because of the coronavirus’s negative impact on the Polish economy, at least 2 million people might lose their jobs as unemployment will touch 10 percent. According to Eurostat, Poland’s unemployment rate in October 2019 was 3.2 percent.
