Zwolnieni z Teorii, a foundation known for organizing a nationwide Olympiad for high school students in Poland, empowers youth by enabling them to undertake social projects. Through these projects, students gain practical skills essential for the job market, such as management, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. They also earn international certificates valuable for job applications and university admissions.
Paula Bruszewska, President of the foundation, emphasized the importance of moving away from rote learning towards developing soft skills. She highlighted that understanding technology and the ability to critically assess information are crucial competencies for the 21st century. Bruszewska argues that modern education should focus on these skills rather than extending years spent in traditional schooling.
"Competencies are still important because we need to understand what machines do and how they work. However, our education system is outdated, focusing too much on memorization rather than critical thinking and practical skills," Bruszewska said.
She believes integrating modern technologies into education can better prepare students for the rapidly evolving job market.
