Energy security needs teamwork

Securing critical infrastructure demands cooperation between government, business, and citizens, said experts at the "Protection of Critical Infrastructure" debate during Impact 25. Cyber hygiene is vital, as humans remain the weakest link. Orlen’s Rafał Batkowski stressed that ensuring safe, uninterrupted energy—from sourcing raw materials to fueling armed forces—is central to national security. He called for stronger civil-military and business-state coordination, including readiness to protect offshore infrastructure in Poland’s economic zone.
Deputy Minister Konrad Gołota noted that State Treasury companies, including defense and energy firms, rely on vast supplier networks. He cited rising cyberattacks—doubling yearly—despite strong cybersecurity services and initiatives like the newly formed Cyber Legion.
Ukraine’s Yevhenii Harkavyi emphasized how resilience in war depends on unified action and adaptability. Prof. Wacław Gudowski added that small nuclear reactors could boost energy system resilience, stressing the need for a robust safety culture across all infrastructure stakeholders.
