GUS: Poland buys more than it sells
Poland’s foreign trade continues to grow, but imports are rising faster than exports, resulting in a widening trade deficit. According to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), between January and October 2025 exports increased by 2.8% year on year to €304.3 billion, while imports rose by 5.4% to €309.3 billion. As a result, the trade balance shifted to a €5.1 billion deficit, compared with a €2.3 billion surplus a year earlier. Despite the overall deficit, Poland still recorded a strong trade surplus with Germany, its main trading partner.
Export growth was weaker or negative to some markets, including the United States, Italy, and the United Kingdom. GUS noted that most major partners still showed rising trade volumes, reflecting robust overall exchange despite the negative balance.
