The sale of Johnson Matthey's plant in Konin is expected to be finalized this year, according to real estate firm Colliers, managing the property. Johnson Matthey announced two years ago its intention to divest from the segment producing materials for electric vehicle batteries. The Konin plant, intended for lithium-nickel oxide production, halted construction in 2021. In early 2022, Johnson Matthey sold its battery materials segment to EV Metals Group, but the Konin properties were excluded. Colliers reported significant interest in the Konin site and anticipates completing the sale this year. Local officials also confirmed advanced talks, hopeful for a positive outcome.

Johnson Matthey values its Konin assets at £25 million, including land and partially constructed facilities.
