MC: we do not intend to withdraw from digital tax

Poland's Ministry of Digital Affairs (MC) remains committed to developing a digital tax on Big Tech revenues, despite opposition from the U.S. ambassador nominee Tom Rose and lack of involvement from the Ministry of Finance. Vice Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski stated that Poland will not withdraw from consultations, emphasizing that many European countries, including France, Spain, and the UK, have similar taxes.
The tax aims to fund digitalization, Polish startups, and tech development. Gawkowski criticized U.S. interference, asserting Poland’s sovereignty in policy-making. The legal framework for data privacy protection will also be presented this year. Prime Minister Donald Tusk supports his ministers, and the MC will lead discussions with major tech firms.
