Poland plans fastest railway

Poland is pressing ahead with the Central Communication Port (CPK) and a high-speed rail system designed for trains reaching 350 km/h, Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak announced after a Cabinet Council meeting. The project aims to create Europe’s fastest railway, linking Warsaw with Łódź, Poznań, and Wrocław. Travel from Warsaw to Poznań will take under 100 minutes, while reaching the new airport will require just 15–17 minutes.
The CPK program also includes a major airport between Warsaw and Łódź, initially designed for 34 million passengers annually. Construction is slated to begin in 2026, with opening planned for 2032, alongside the Warsaw–CPK–Łódź rail section. Full “Y” line connections to Poznań and Wrocław are scheduled by 2035.
Klimczak confirmed that all investments, including a PLN 2 billion widening of the A2 motorway, will remain in Polish hands, with profits and management kept domestically.
