Poland’s Gini index drops to 0.314

In 2022, Poland's Gini coefficient dropped to 0.314 from 0.319 in 2021, as reported by the Central Statistical Office (GUS).
The Gini coefficient measures income inequality, ranging from "0" (perfect equality where everyone has the same income) to "1" (extreme inequality where one person has all the income). A higher value indicates greater income concentration and inequality.
After a period of increase from 2014 to 2017 and temporary stability, income inequality, as measured by the Gini coefficient, rose in 2020 and 2021. However, in 2022, it decreased to 0.314, nearly matching the 2020 level. The dynamics of the Gini coefficient for cities closely mirrored the national average, albeit at lower levels. In rural areas, the Gini coefficient continued its upward trend from previous years in 2022, according to GUS.
