Production of e-cars and hybrids to start in Tychy
In the second half of 2022, FCA Poland in Tychy intends to start serial production of the first of three new passenger car models for brands belonging to the group. It is related to the new investment, which is to be implemented in the coming years in the Tychy factory. The Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) agreed to support this endeavor.
The investment will involve the expansion and modernization of the FCA Poland plant in Tychy, which will take several years. The goal is to launch the production of technologically advanced Jeep, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo models based on the new mobility concept.
“This investment decision will be a great challenge for employees and management. We have to get used to the thought that not only Fiats will be produced at the FCA factory in Tychy, but also Jeep and Alfa Romeo cars - brands that mean a lot to friends of the automotive industry," Dr. Henryka Bochniarz, member of the Supervisory Board of FCA Poland, said.
KSEZ passed the decision on granting support to the FCA Group. It concerns the creation of favorable conditions for the implementation of the planned investment by providing FCA with the possibility of benefiting from tax reliefs in the field of corporate income tax. The document with the decision was adopted by Sławomir Bekier, financial director and member of the board of FCA Poland, and the symbolic transfer of the decision was made by Dr. Janusz Michałek, president of the KSEZ during the announcement of FCA's investment in the Tychy factory.
“Thanks to the implementation of the FCA Group's investment, planned for several years, modern FCA cars with electric and hybrid drive will be created in the KSEZ in Silesia. Within the framework of the decision to support the KSEZ, our investor has declared over PLN 755 million of outlays for the factory in Tychy,” Dr. Janusz Michałek emphasized.
