Robert Konieczny, founder of KWK Promes: more apartments not a sin
Architect Robert Konieczny, founder of KWK Promes, argues that developers who maximize usable floor area should not be automatically criticized. Profit is necessary, he says, and well-designed density can deliver more homes while improving urban quality. His Poznań aparthotel Aura, commissioned by Piotr Voelkel, exemplifies this approach: a compact building wrapped in self-sustaining greenery that enhances microclimate and livability. Konieczny believes dense cities must also be green and human-friendly.
He stresses that thoughtful design pays off even in mass housing, but refuses projects he considers harmful — turning down profitable work to protect valuable urban green spaces.
