Survey: companies afraid of exodus following implementation of wage transparency requirements
Only about one in two surveyed companies has started preparing to implement pay-transparency rules. Employers want to avoid conflict, fearing that disclosure could trigger internal disputes, prompt top performers to leave, and force upward wage adjustments.
Grant Thornton surveyed board members of medium and large firms and found that 45% have begun preparations, while the rest have not or are unsure. Poland is drafting a law to implement an EU directive on equal pay for equal work (or work of equal value), which must be transposed by 7 June 2026. The law would require job evaluation, transparent pay systems, gender pay-gap reporting, remedial actions, and cooperation with unions and inspectors, with fines up to PLN 60,000. Many firms lack clear raise/bonus criteria.
