The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has initiated an explanatory proceeding to investigate whether the Biedronka and Dino retail chains engaged in illegal agreements not to compete for workers, specifically focusing on drivers of transport companies servicing these chains. The investigation aims to determine if these companies coordinated to prevent competition among themselves for employees, potentially limiting job mobility and wage growth.
If confirmed, such practices could lead to financial penalties of up to 10% of the company's turnover, with responsible managers facing fines up to PLN 2 million. UOKiK emphasizes that these "no-poaching agreements" can harm both workers and economic development.
