Warsaw to ban old cars from the city center from 2024

Old cars will be banned from Warsaw city center in an effort to improve the air quality. The Polish capital will introduce clean transport zones from July 2024. As a result, diesel cars over 18 years old and petrol cars over 27 years old will no longer be allowed in the city center and other selected areas.
The zone will cover most of the city center, parts of Wola, Ochota, and Saska Kepa, and parts of North and South Praga on the opposite side of the River Wisla. Initially, about 2% of cars will be affected, according to Warsaw authorities.
The drivers of banned cars caught in the zones will pay a PLN 500 fine.
