4.6 million tourists visit Tatra mountains in 2022

According to Tatra National Park (TPN), the Tatra Mountains in Poland welcomed a record-breaking number of tourists in 2022. A total of 4.58 million tourists visited the mountains, with the most popular destination being the trail to Morskie Oko, which was visited by over 773,000 people. The Dolina Kościeliska and Kasprowy Wierch were the next most popular destinations, with 550,000 and 549,500 visitors, respectively. TPN authorities are monitoring the tourist influx to see if it is having a negative impact on nature, but for now, there are no concerns. They are also monitoring animal populations to ensure they are not being adversely affected.
TPN may consider limiting the number of visitors to the mountains if animal populations or other environmental factors are negatively impacted by tourism.
