71% of Poles believe having own apartment a condition for good life
A report by IBRiS for the Polish Association of Property Developers and analyses from the Warsaw School of Economics show that home ownership remains central to Poles’ sense of security and quality of life. Seventy-one percent believe only owning a home ensures a good life, and a similar share already own property. While most are satisfied with their housing situation, young people see buying a home as far harder than in the past. Lack of housing is viewed as a barrier to having children and a driver of youth emigration. Renting is largely seen as temporary, with most renters preferring mortgage payments.
High purchase prices, rents, and mortgage conditions are the main barriers, while government housing policy is rated poorly.
