7% of Poles declare that they have debts
The pandemic did not hit the budgets of Polish households as hard as forecasted. Most of them declare that their financial situation has not changed during that time. Deterioration, in turn, was felt by 28 percent and it was mainly caused by galloping prices in shops. However, 7 percent of households have problems with paying their bills and loan installments on time, according to the latest research carried out by Kantar for KRUK SA.
"Our latest study shows that 28 percent of Poles during the pandemic recorded a deterioration in the financial situation of their households. However, 6 percent indicated that their situation even improved during this period. The vast majority of Poles, however, indicated that their financial situation is stable and has not changed compared to the pre-pandemic period," Agnieszka Salach, KRUK SA spokeswoman, said.
The survey shows that among the 6 percent who experienced improvement, it was most often noticed by people with three or more children (17 percent) or those who run their businesses (15 percent). In turn, the deterioration of the situation was most often indicated by people from smaller cities, with up to 100,000 inhabitants (34 percent of indications), and employed in specific sectors: services (38 percent), industrial (29 percent), and construction (29 percent).
"There are of course also industries that have done much better. This is mainly the medical industry and the public administration sector," Agnieszka Salach added.
