Decarbonization is a long-term game – competitiveness is key today
Nearly 2,000 participants, including 200 speakers across 20 panels and workshops, attended the Polish Climate Congress, confirming its role as a leading platform for dialogue between public administration, business, and finance on energy and economic transformation. This year’s discussions marked a shift from prioritizing climate targets toward a stronger focus on economic competitiveness and energy security.
Held under the patronage of key ministries, the event emphasized that competitiveness is essential for effective decarbonization. Without stable economic foundations, ambitious climate goals cannot be achieved. Poland faces a more complex transition than countries with longer histories of green investment, but the green transition remains inevitable and strategically justified—also improving public health and quality of life.
The transition is now a global investment megatrend spanning energy, industry, infrastructure, and finance, with hundreds of billions of euros invested annually. Its pace directly impacts economic competitiveness and global positioning.
Minister Miłosz Motyka highlighted that climate policy is increasingly linked to energy security and market stability. He stressed that renewable energy development—especially wind and photovoltaics—is driven by economic logic and can lower energy costs. He also underscored the need for grid modernization and energy storage, noting that renewables, alongside nuclear energy, form the basis of a modern system.
Delays in transition risk weakening competitiveness, as global investments accelerate. The transition also carries significant health and environmental implications, which should be reflected in public debate.
The Congress gathered key representatives from government and major companies, underscoring the importance of cross-sector cooperation. Discussions covered industry, energy, finance, local investments, and technology, focusing on EU competitiveness, digitalization, and innovation.
The event concluded that successful transformation requires an integrated approach combining economic, energy, and social policies.
