Demographics in Poland: population is getting older, average age is 42

The president of the Central Statistical Office (GUS), Dr. Dominik Rozkrut, noted that society in Poland is aging. He presented Poland's demographics in light of an analysis of the 2021 National Population and Housing Census.
"This pyramid is looking less and less like a pyramid. The thickening is consistently moving upward, and it leads to the fact that, as a society, we are simply getting older," - Rozkrut explained.
The average age in Poland is 42, up from 38 in 2011. "Based on that, we can calculate an old-age index, a demographic old-age index or an old-age dependency ratio. They all show a deepening aging of the population," Rozkrut added.
