Electric car boom in Poland

Poland’s electric vehicle market is accelerating. By the end of August, 107,242 fully electric passenger and commercial vehicles had been registered, up 74% year-on-year. In total, the country’s EV fleet reached 193,301 units, including 97,575 battery-electric cars (BEVs), 95,726 plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), and 9,853 electric vans and trucks. Two-wheeled vehicles also gained ground, with 26,629 electric mopeds and motorcycles on the roads.
Hybrid models remain the most numerous, with 1.17 million cars and delivery vans in circulation. While passenger car registrations are hitting records, demand for zero-emission vans is lagging—registrations from January to August fell by more than one-third compared to 2023, according to PSNM’s Jan Wiśniewski. He expects improvements once the “NaszEauto” subsidy scheme extends to commercial vehicles.
Infrastructure is expanding in parallel: Poland had 10,941 public charging points in August, 34% of them fast chargers.
