Poland, along with other flood-affected countries, will access over €1.5 billion in emergency EU funds to aid recovery efforts, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced. While visiting flood-hit Lower Silesia, Tusk emphasized Poland’s readiness but acknowledged potential future assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Tusk aims to invite European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to assess the situation firsthand and potentially secure further EU support.
Additionally, the Ministry of Funds will redirect PLN 1.5 billion in EU funding to repair homes and infrastructure, with a possible PLN 3.5 billion allocated for flood prevention investments, including embankments and reservoirs. This funding will supplement Poland's national recovery budget, ensuring long-term flood protection and swift rebuilding efforts.
