European gas prices fell sharply at the start of the week as forecasts confirmed milder temperatures, reducing demand for heating fuel. Benchmark Dutch TTF gas contracts traded in Amsterdam dropped to about €32.8 per MWh, down more than 8% on the day after earlier double-digit losses, marking the first decline in four sessions. Analysts say warmer weather in northwestern Europe and across much of the United States has eased consumption expectations.

The gas market has been volatile since early 2026, with January cold spells boosting demand and sharply drawing down storage levels. Gas inventories in the EU are currently at 37.1%, well below the five-year average, while Polish storage is nearly 60% full. Forecasters warn that weather models remain unstable, keeping downside risks limited.
