Government planning to provide Poles with cheaper electricity

The Polish government plans to stabilize household electricity prices in 2026 at no more than PLN 500/MWh, according to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The project includes cooperation with energy trading companies to secure lower prices, as well as a review of legal regulations affecting tariffs and energy costs. Officials stress the goal is to reduce bills without extending the current price freeze, which has been in place at the same level.
Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka confirmed efforts to ensure tariffs approved by the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) remain below the 500 zł/MWh threshold. URE president Renata Mroczek added that moving away from frozen prices could enhance market competitiveness and transparency, supporting further declines.
