Green competencies sought in housing construction, not keeping up with demand
Although green technologies are now widely used in Poland’s residential construction sector, a shortage of skilled professionals is slowing their effective implementation. Rising regulatory requirements and growing environmental awareness are increasing demand for specialists who can plan retrofits, select appropriate technologies, and manage buildings efficiently. Energy standards are no longer optional but integral to housing projects, driven by solutions such as photovoltaics, heat pumps, green roofs, and water retention systems. While the number of eco-certified residential buildings is rising rapidly, experts stress that the main barrier to energy transition is not technology but human capital.
Poland may need hundreds of thousands of qualified workers by 2030, especially specialists combining technical, regulatory, economic, and managerial skills essential for sustainable housing development.
