Gulf conflict affecting flights, tourism and fuel prices
Polish tourists are stranded in the Persian Gulf as airlines reorganize routes and travel agencies focus on evacuations. Airspace over Iran has been closed, forcing carriers to reroute flights. Wizz Air suspended connections to Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Jordan, while LOT canceled selected Middle East flights but continues operating to East Asia with minor delays. Ryanair does not fly to Gulf states.
Experts warn that prolonged tensions could raise jet fuel prices, as nearly 40% of Europe’s Jet A-1 supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices may climb toward USD 100 per barrel if the conflict escalates. Tour operators say the financial impact should be limited, and summer bookings remain strong despite operational challenges.
