In December 2024, consumer confidence indicators improved, but expectations for higher inflation increased. The Current Consumer Confidence Indicator (BWUK) rose to -16.7, a 0.4 percentage point (pp) increase from the previous month. Notable improvements were seen in assessments of the ability to make major purchases (+2.7 pp) and the current economic situation of the country (+1.4 pp). However, evaluations of the current household financial situation dropped by 2.1 pp.
The Forward-Looking Consumer Confidence Indicator (WWUK) slightly increased by 0.1 pp to -11.5, reflecting stable expectations for near-term consumption trends. Despite overall improvements compared to 2023, inflation concerns persist, with consumers anticipating price increases in the next 12 months. Additionally, 30.5% of respondents view the Ukraine conflict as a significant threat to Poland's sovereignty, up 3.9 pp from November.
