Inflation in Poland is expected to rise to 5.3% year-on-year in Q1 2025, up from 4.8% in the previous quarter, according to National Bank of Poland President Adam Glapiński. The increase is attributed to higher food prices and gas distribution tariffs. Despite a base effect in Q2 2025 lowering inflation, the overall rate will remain near 5% in the first half of the year due to a planned excise tax hike on tobacco products. Inflation is forecasted to decline in the second half of the year, reaching 4.1% in Q3 and stabilizing at 4.8% in Q4. Energy prices will continue to play a key role in inflation trends. December 2024 inflation was reported at 4.7%.
