Licenses for property managers under consideration again
The Polish government is considering reinstating licenses for property managers more than a decade after deregulation opened the profession to virtually anyone. Officials argue that individuals with minimal education, basic liability insurance, and a registered business can currently manage assets worth hundreds of millions of złoty, creating uneven service quality and weak accountability. Proposed reforms include restoring a central register, requiring higher education and postgraduate studies in property management, and introducing mandatory six-month internships, though without a state exam.
The industry also supports establishing a professional liability system and code of ethics. Supporters say the changes will improve transparency and protect owners, while critics warn of higher costs and reduced competition.
