MP Ireneusz Zyska: Poland needs a scalpel, not a sledgehammer to manage energy system
Former government plenipotentiary for renewables Ireneusz Zyska argues that fragmented responsibilities within the Polish government are slowing decision-making in the energy sector and diluting accountability. In an interview with WNP, he calls for concentrating strategic energy management within the Ministerstwo Energii and revising both the National Energy and Climate Plan and the grid law. Zyska criticizes the proposed grid legislation as overly blunt, saying it requires “a scalpel, not a sledgehammer,” warning that it could harm small and medium-sized renewable developers while favoring large corporations.
He supports removing speculative renewable projects but stresses the need for case-by-case assessment. Zyska also urges deeper digitalization of the energy system and a shift toward hybrid installations combining photovoltaics with storage and stable power sources.
