In 2024, health insurance premiums in Poland rose by 35.3% y/y to PLN 2.3 billion, while the number of insured individuals increased by 12.2% to 5.39 million, according to the Polish Chamber of Insurance (PIU). These figures refer to policies providing access to medical services—mainly outpatient and specialist care, including diagnostic tests—not financial payouts.

The growing demand for private health insurance is largely due to challenges in accessing public healthcare. PIU expects the private health insurance market to expand further in 2025, driven by rising public expectations and the desire for faster, higher-quality care. PIU represents all insurance companies operating in Poland and monitors industry trends.
