Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the Central Transport Hub (CPK) will be renamed “Port Polska,” arguing that the previous name had been “disgraced” by his predecessors and carried negative associations. The decision, unveiled at a government conference, has sparked strong criticism from Ryanair, the leading airline in Poland.

Michał Kaczmarzyk, head of Ryanair’s Polish operations, called the new name misguided and confusing, noting that it does not indicate any location – unlike major European hubs such as Heathrow or Charles de Gaulle. He argued that “Port Polska” sounds politically driven, suggests other airports are “less Polish,” and creates unnecessary controversy. From a business perspective, Ryanair views the rebranding as artificial and unprofessional rather than prestige-building.
