Poland becomes a real export giant
According to GUS data, in 2020 the value of Polish exports amounted to $334 billion. For comparison: in 2016 it was well below $200 billion. What do we export the most? Fruit, vegetables, and food in general, furniture, window systems, parts, and components for the automotive industry or household appliances are just some of the products that we successfully send to foreign markets. The report "30 years of Polish exports" (prepared by KUKE and the SpotData analytical center) shows that in 2020 there were 41 industries in which Poland turned out to be the export leader among the European Union countries.
But that is only one side of the coin. The Polish economy is not only about exports. It is also very import-intensive. According to the National Bank of Poland, imports to Poland in the third quarter of 2021 increased by 24.2 percent (up to €70.63 billion) compared to the same period last year.
Many companies must first purchase raw materials or semi-finished products abroad, process them and sell ready-made products on foreign markets. The sudden depreciation of the zloty may be a problem for such companies. Of course, a lot depends on the industry and production profile.
"It happens that companies call to offer them a better rate here and now. Negotiations with business partners are our daily bread. Regardless of them, we offer an average exchange rate of approx. 8% better than in banks. We can also negotiate at any time. commission amount, which ranges from 0.2% to 0.02%," Jakub Balcerzak, business advisor to Amronet.pl, the currency platform, said.
