Poland boosts ESA funding
Poland will sharply raise its contribution to the European Space Agency, lifting funding from €194 million to a record €731 million. The increase follows ESA’s €22 billion, three-year budget approved in Bremen, and channels €550 million into optional programmes that directly support Polish companies and researchers. Several ministries will co-finance the commitment.
A major focus will be dual-use projects—technologies serving both civilian and defence needs—aligned with ESA’s new €1 billion European Resilience from Space programme. Poland and ESA also signed a letter of intent to establish an ESA technology centre in Poland, financed initially with €100–300 million from the national budget.
More funding will reach industry, particularly for lunar missions, satellite platforms, quantum communication, debris tracking and secure navigation. Leading beneficiaries are expected to include Creotech, Scanway, KP Labs and Astronika. ESA project selections should begin in the second half of next year.
