Poland developing high-tech industry but lacks professionals
Poland’s high-tech industrial sector is developing rapidly, with growth in electromobility, automation, electronics and planned projects such as the Jaworzno hub with Taiwan’s Foxconn. However, experts from Smart Solutions HR warn that the main barrier may be the availability of qualified workers. Advanced manufacturing will need not only lower-level staff, but also technicians, automation specialists, mechatronics experts, quality control specialists, process engineers, PLC programmers, robotics specialists and IT/OT experts.
Industry already employs over 3 mln people in Poland, but new investments will compete for specialists who are also needed in automotive, energy, logistics and maintenance. The shift toward semiconductors, electromobility and automated production will require stronger technical skills, English-language ability and readiness to work in international environments.
Experts stress that companies should map skills and build talent pipelines years before production starts, through internships, cooperation with technical schools and universities, scholarships and targeted foreign recruitment. Without early action from companies, education and public administration, even major high-tech investments may operate below their potential.
