Poland has chance to become significant player in European industrial ecosystem
According to Łukasz Jaeszke of TEK.info.pl, Dresden will likely become Europe’s main semiconductor hub, creating an opportunity for Poland to capture part of the value chain – especially in the back-end stage where finished wafers are packaged and tested. Poland ranks first in Europe and fifth globally for back-end investment attractiveness, supported by low operating costs, a clear tax system, strong incentives, and solid macroeconomic fundamentals. Although the Polish semiconductor ecosystem is still small at 45 companies, it has strong software and chip-design talent thanks to R&D centers like Intel and Trumpf Huettinger. Jaeszke notes that foreign investment is crucial for gaining practical know-how.
With Saxony rapidly expanding and short on skilled workers, Poland – particularly Lower Silesia – is well-positioned to integrate into the emerging cross-border semiconductor supply chain.
