Nearly 2,000 companies and institutions applied to join Poland’s pilot program testing reduced working hours with full pay, the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy (MRPiPS) announced. Ninety employers have been selected to take part, representing more than 5,000 employees. Each project will receive an average of over PLN 0.5 million in funding.

The chosen firms will sign agreements this year and prepare for implementation, with the main phase running from January 2026 to December 2026. During that time, working hours will be cut by 10% in the first half of the year and by 20% in the second, without lowering wages or worsening employment conditions.

Employers must maintain at least 90% of their current workforce. The ministry will collect data and publish a report assessing the program’s nationwide viability.
