Polish energy giants sign up to rebuild Ukraine
Poland's four largest state-controlled energy companies — PGE, Orlen, Enea, and Tauron — signed a letter of intent at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdańsk on June 25, committing to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine's war-damaged energy infrastructure. The event, attended by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, brought together governments and businesses to coordinate recovery efforts.
The World Bank estimates the overall cost of rebuilding Ukraine at over $500 billion. Poland's state asset minister described it as the most significant reconstruction project since the Second World War and stressed that Polish companies could not afford to stand aside. The signing aligns with Poland's broader strategic push to position its firms as key partners in what promises to be one of the largest investment programmes in European history.
