Polish Korean missile factory breaks ground
Construction has begun on a major missile manufacturing complex in Gorzów Wielkopolski, a joint venture between South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace and Polish defence company WB Electronics. The project is valued at around PLN 2 billion and will cover approximately 116 hectares, with some 60 industrial buildings planned. Its principal output will be CGR-080 guided rockets used in the Polish army’s Homar-K launch systems.
Hanwha holds 51% of Hanwha WB Advanced Systems, while WB Electronics owns 49%. The partners expect initial missile assembly in 2029 and more than 250 new jobs. The factory is intended to build domestic production capacity and strengthen industrial cooperation between the two countries. A groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 4, with the development reported in detail on Thursday. Local production should reduce reliance on imported components, although manufacturing timelines remain subject to construction and commissioning.
