Polish logistics companies reached PLN 1.63 bln in arrears in ‘25
Polish road carriers’ overdue liabilities reached PLN 1.63 bln in 2025, placing transport among the three most indebted industries. Despite accounting for nearly one-third of EU international road freight activity in 2024, carriers face shrinking margins and lengthy payment terms. Net margins fell from 6.8% in 2024 to 4.2% in 2025. Some 42% of carriers accepted contracts with payment terms exceeding 120 days, while 63% frequently could not negotiate contractual conditions.
Delayed payments strain cash flow, complicate access to credit and leasing, and hinder fleet renewal. Recovering debts abroad adds legal and administrative costs. Factoring can accelerate payments but carries fees. Transport represents nearly 7% of Poland’s GDP and almost 1 mln jobs.
