Questions arise as to beneficiaries of EU-India trade agreement
The European Union and India have signed a landmark free trade agreement (FTA), creating one of the world’s largest free trade zones. Tariffs will be eliminated on over 96% of traded goods, and services markets — including finance, telecom, transport, and professional services — will be widely liberalized. The deal is expected to boost exports, infrastructure projects, and long-term contracts, benefiting sectors such as machinery, metals, chemicals, aerospace, logistics, and business services. While concerns have emerged about potential wage pressure and an influx of Indian workers, experts stress that national visa and work permit rules remain in place.
The agreement mainly facilitates short-term professional mobility and project cooperation, particularly in IT and engineering, and is expected to support job creation and higher-value specialization in Poland.
