Report: Gen Z trusts AI more than previous generations
A growing share of Generation Z consumers trusts AI more than influencers when making purchase decisions, according to a new report by Insightland. The study shows that 52% of people born between 1995 and 2012 trust shopping recommendations generated by AI tools, while only 11% rely on influencers. As a result, brands competing for Gen Z attention increasingly need to appear in AI-generated answers, not just in traditional search results. While Google remains widely used, over half of respondents turn to AI when search results fail.
The report also highlights the decline of influencer marketing, the growing importance of peer recommendations, and a strong shift toward mobile-first or mobile-only e-commerce, especially among younger Gen Z users.
